About
Melissa Bischoping is a security leader whose academic and professional background in human psychology and technology align to educate, advocate for, and remediate the difficult security problems faced by businesses and individuals.
She leads the Secure Operations & Enablement organization at Siemens Digital Industries, and was previously Head of Threat Research & Intelligence at Tanium, where she built the teams, products, and programs that turned endpoint telemetry from thousands of enterprise environments into original research and detection capability. Prior to Tanium, she held operations and security roles across the hospitality, casino gaming, and industrial manufacturing sectors.
She treats empathy as a research discipline rather than a soft skill: understanding how people make decisions under pressure is, to her, what turns policy into practice. A control nobody can execute is not a control.
Melissa serves on the SANS Technology Institute Board of Directors, is an instructor candidate for LDR514: Strategic Planning, Policy & Leadership, and holds an M.S. in Information Security Engineering and 12 active GIAC certifications including the GSP.
